There are several pounds in South Wales.  Not sure what your reasons are for asking, but some rehome directly to the public and some don't.  The ones we deal with don't.

We would never recommend anyone rehomes a dog directly from the pound though as they will not have been assessed, neutered or fully vaccinated.

Your local authority may be able to tell you where your local pound is, but many don't give out that information as they are not open to the public.

In what area dafydd South Wales is a big place. As Bunter has said every council has a duty of care for the strays so you maybe better off asking your local council where your local pound is some may or may not give you the info.

had a quick look and your area is Neath

details of what happens in this area can be found HERE - seems they give the address of the kennels where any stray dogs are taken but this doesn't necessarily mean members of the public can rehome dogs from there.

To contact the dog warden service in the Neath/Port Talbot area (report a stray dog, report your dog missing, or receive information on dog adoption) details are HERE

I would also get in touch with local authority dog warden's outside your area as well jsut in case there may be sightings in the next local authority areas - if you google the relevant LA should find the details you need or at least contact details to find further info. I would also get in touch with dogslost as well http://www.doglost.co.uk

Sorry to hear that  Sad

As Penny has said, you would be best getting in contact with the local authorities both in your area and surrounding ones to report her lost.  If they will give you the details of where the pounds are, you would be best visiting them as well as sometimes they list dogs as being different to what they actually are.

If you list her on Dogslost, you can download posters from there too and put them up all over the area.  If someone has found or taken her, then by postering it can make her too hot to handle.

I hope your friend finds her soon.
