Breed: German Shepherd
Age: 7/8 Years
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: No
Child Friendly: Yes, own family, Ok but caution advised with strangers (children over 10)
Fostered: Nr Blackwood S.Wales
House trained: Yes (under assessment, to be confirmed)
Reason for being available: Hand in to Four paws
Car travel: Travels well
On lead:  Good

This is Tia, she is a mature 7/8 yr old GSD bitch that has to be re homed following an unfortunate incident involving the death of a cat. Tia is not an aggressive dog but cannot be homed with cats or other small furries/chickens etc.

Tia is intelligent, learns quickly and is very obedient.  She is devoted to her own people and home, too much so as she has a very strong guarding instinct.  She is not savage, but will grab hold of those she sees as intruders, she will however, grab then let go.  This hurts, and can break the skin and cause bruising.  Unfortunately people will see this as a bite.  Care will have to be exercised in a new home, a calm dominant approach seems to have worked best she will obey 'leave it'!

She walks well on a lead and it is advisable to keep on a lead in public places as she may perceive a threat in anyone running or jogging towards her and her people and grab.

She gets on well with other dogs, but will not tolerate another bitch trying to dominate her

She has always been good, well behaved and easy to handle at and by the vets, or other strangers away from home.

Please put in an application in the first instance if you are interested in Tia. Approved applications will be home checked.

Details of our adoption procedures and adoption application form are  here

Oh she's beautiful Love and bless her for looking after her humans (even if misguided). Our GSD used to do that. I'm sure she'll find a lovely home soon.

Whats happened with this dog. I bet it wasnt her fault regarding the death of a cat but i dont suppose the full reason for it comes out Rant. I bet it was more the humans fault than the dog. Shame as a dog like her will prob have a hell of a time getting rehomed now giving having to be kept away from cats. Sad kelly
