Porter is a handsome, distinguished older chap who is just lovely, lovely, lovely. He isn’t very tall in size, and liked to plod along on our walk with his tail wagging. He is extremely patient with Reece who liked to jump over him at times and didn’t bat an eyelid at other dogs/passers by – he just kept plodding past. Nothing seemed to bother him! He is super cuddly and came to sit at my feet and have tickles when we were watching Reece being photographed. He seems like a very unassuming and loyal friend, and was constantly looking over at me when he was having his photo shoot to see where I was. Porter definitely knows his basic commands, he is quick to fall in line on the lead and walk next to you. He can also sit when told. We tried to offer him biscuits but seemed happier with just a quick fuss in return for his good behaviour! I think with a little extra training Porter would be very responsive – we didn’t let him off the lead but I imagine his recall would be good as he is constantly looking out for you to see where you are! Even though Porter is an older gent, he kept up well with me, Ian and Reese and matched us step for step, he seemed to have a lot of energy and was really enjoying his walk. Porter strikes me as the kind of dog who would like to be fussed and cuddled a lot – he would enjoy the finer things in life! All in all we felt he would be a super and easy dog to look after, he seems quite happy to fit in with whatever you want to do and is very calm. Please think of Porter if you have never had the pleasure of a Staffy in your home before, he really is as gentle lad with lots to give  Smiley

Anyways, here are his photos!

Hehe, yeah he is really a lovely lad! He was fab with other dogs when we took him out, and was so affectionate, he would make an ideal friend for someone who wants a calmer hound, it seems he is quite happy having a nice walk, a good tummy tickle and then a good old fashioned snooze to finish the day off, he really is a smashing chap Smiley

Is Porter looking for a foster space? I just offered a place for Mitzie if required but could offer him a foster home instead, whatever would be most helpful - they both seem lovely dogs, will leave it to you if you think either one of them would be suitable for me!  Wave
I have a very friendly young staffie/lurcher type girlie who loves to play and run and is quite submissive and very sweet (but doesn't do a thing I ask her!)

Hi,
have been approved as a fosterer already by Simon but am not doing anything at the moment so thought I would volunteer for Porter or Mitzie. Saw a message saying to pm Sheperd lover to arrange a foster dog so have done this last night.
Thanks for your reply anyway!  Smiley Helen

 Cry

So sad for poor old Porter as I won't be fostering him after all as he can't be properly cat tested in kennels. The good news is that I should be fostering little Mitzie instead!
Please please think about Porter stuck in kennels as being old and a staffy a lot of people will pass him by.  Cry Blow Nose
Thank you so much, Helen x

I know, I'm so sad for him and had mentally brought him home too as I was so convinced we were having him....

I'm sure he's no real threat to cats as he's been described as very placid and I didn't think about how hard it is to assess dogs in kennels.
PLEASE please will someone else think about fostering him as I feel so sorry for him in kennels  Weeping I don't suppose older staffies are that popular really...
Does anyone know which kennel he's in? A dog loving friend wanted to volunteer for some dog walking with me and I thought perhaps I could say hello to him that way?!  Thinking

Hi!  Wave

Clare24 on here is the owner of the kennels so if your friend could do some dog walking for her I know she'd appreciate it!, send her a pm and she'll get back to you as soon as she can, as you can imagine she's a very busy girl! Grin

Fab news you might be taking in Mitzie too Hug, she came into foster with me orginally before we found out she was pregnant & went to 'Nanny' Maggies to have her pups & she was a fab houseguest, pm me if you need any info on her & I'll try & help;D

Ok great!

I remember Mitzie vaguely but there's no info on her now, unless I'm looking in the wrong place? Any info/tips on her would be appreciated!

Will pm Claire as suggested to see if Rachel and I can walk any kennel dogs sometime. Funnily enough Rachel has 2 of Mitzie's male pups reserved and is eagerly awaiting their home visit to her, which I should think will be any day now, to meet her little cairn terrier and see if they get on!
It's a small world lol!  Grin
