The Roolz! Rules for posting on the forum...
« on: March 19, 2010, 09:33:30 AM »

This forum is paid for and run by Four Paws Animal Rescue (South Wales).  We are all volunteers.  We have no full-time nor paid staff.

It is our 'shop-front' if you like - where people can find out about our animals looking for their forever homes; the online events we are running to raise some much needed funds; the shows we are attending; Meet & Greets; Homes 4 Paws; etc.  It is also a place where people can get to know us and find out about volunteering, be it as a foster carer or to help out with fundraising....

Every new member of this forum is individually approved.  This is in an attempt to stop any spam from reaching the boards and to do our best to protect our members from their details being harvested by spambots.  Guests can read the boards, but not reply.  Guest are not able to read members' profiles.

When you sign up to the forum, there is an option to hide your email address from public view.  While we attempt to ensure every new member is genuine, we cannot guarantee it.  I would suggest all members hide their email addresses from public view.  You can do this by accessing your PROFILE, Modify Proflie, Account Related Settings.  Put a tick in the box for 'Hide email address from public?'

We don't have many rules here - we are a friendly and pretty easy going bunch  ;D

As with all forums though, there HAS to be some rules, most of which are pretty obvious..

* Friendly banter is allowed; direct insults, racism, sexism, breedism, homophobia, etc, etc is not  :nono:

* If you find a post offensive, there is a 'report to moderator' button that you can click on the offending post.  This will be emailed to all moderators so that appropriate action can be taken.

* Anyone misusing the forum by sending inappropriate emails or spreading rumours will have their access revoked.

* We insist on positive, reward-based methods of the training of Four Paws dogs.  While it is OK to discuss and question other methods, promotion of them is not allowed.  Any posts that suggest any other methods may well be modified by the team (depending on where they are posted). There is a General Information section on the forum, which covers methods of training and explains why positive, reward-based methods work and why the 'dominance' theory has been proven to be outdated.

* Please keep the chat in the appropriate section.  We have a Random Musings topic in General Chat.  Chat in any of the rehoming threads, auction threads, photo competition threads, etc will be removed.

* We are a non-commercial site and as such advertising is not allowed.  We will put a link up for those kind people who donate items as prizes or auction lots or sponsor us, etc.  Putting a link up to your own site is not allowed  :nono:  This is regardless of whether it is a commercial site or not in the interests of being fair to all.

* If you would like to partner with us and have a link from our website to yours and vice versa, then Emily (emilyjw) is the person to contact.

* If you would like a topic to be locked or a post deleted, etc, please contact a moderator.

Thank you to everyone here that keeps this forum as friendly and happy as it is

If anything is unclear or you have any questions - please ask  :)

Charity Commission
As a registered charity Four Paws must act in cases which might be perceived as bullying, if we do not we may face losing our charity status and legal action.

Employers/Organisations have a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their employees/Volunteers. If they do not do this they are breaching an individual’s contract of employment/Agreements. It may also be a breach of sexual harassment and racial discrimination legislation as well as the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. Employers/Organisations and/or the bully may find themselves facing fines, compensation and possibly a jail sentence.

The Trustees have a duty of care to all the members of the charity.  Any accusations of bullying or abuse will necessarily have to be investigated.

None of us want to be walking on eggshells and for the main part, this forum is a happy, friendly place to be

I've just posted a link to an outside website (which is free) in my thread on happy dogs that have been rehomed, I hope this is ok, thought it might be a fun site for others to look at? If not I'll delete the link x

Just a reminder on the forum rules. If anyone has any questions regarding its use, please ask.

Links to non-commercial sites are fine. Even though we have checks in place sometimes the odd spammer gets through so please do use the report to moderator button if you see something inappropriate
