Turmeric paste
« on: January 25, 2017, 15:32:52 PM »
Has anyone used the turmeric paste recipe for their dog.
Holly is getting stiff in back legs. Jess was on metacam
but I would prefer to try a more natural remedy. I have her on 2 yumove
tablets a day, she doesn't limp just a bit wobbly on back legs but still
loves to go on her walks??

Hi Alison  :)   I haven't used it personally but have heard good things.

Dexter (12 nearly) gets stiffness in his hip joints and we're doing a few things which are working brilliantly for him, he's running round like a pup a lot of the time.

He's on 2 lots of supplements - VitVet Flexi Joints https://www.healthspan.co.uk/vetvits/flexi-joints-for-dogs and Flex green lipped mussel supplement - http://ace-canine.com/flex_sprinkle.html

He's having Cartrophen injections, 1 a week for 4 weeks and then same again every 3-6 months depending on how good the results are.

And he's also having K-Laser therapy which made the most massive difference after a few sessions and now he just has a session when he's feeling a bit stiff and he's like a spring lamb again!  http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advice/k-laser-therapy-in-pets.html

I tried Yumove and Yumove Advance but for Dex the results weren't as good.

Sorry for the essay, it's my specialist subject at the moment having two elderly labs, hope it helps :-)  Happy to give you a ring if you want to chat it through x

My 16 year old is on flexi joint and omega 3 but different things are worth a try as what works for one does not always work for another.

Thanks, I have ordered the vitamins and green lipped muscle :)
We are walking down to vets tomorrow, want to weigh Millie
and will make appointment for Holly. It not so much stiffness or limping
it more a weakness in her one rear leg and seems to turn in
a little when we walk,Anthony says I paranoid but I know
it's weaker as I watch them both constantly when walking.

Lady is on metacam and yumove advance and you'd never think she was 12 - she does occasionally have physio and acupuncture too. Not tried tumeric paste yet but its more about getting my act together to make it up
