Plants for Paws
« on: March 16, 2013, 18:00:02 PM »
Love our Poundies has come up with a great idea for Plants for Paws.

We will be having a plant stall at our May event and we need you! Everyone who grows their own is sure to have a few seedlings left over. Me and my allotment are no exception.

If you feel like trying your hand at growing your own veg or flowers then pop into Aldi or any local supermarket for some affordable seeds. Sow them, pot them on and if you have any left over donate them to us rather than your compost bin!

On May 18 we will be holding our Paws For Tea event at Tongwynlais Village Hall and we need your seedlings (oo-err missus, but it's in a good cause!)

Just a little thing to remember for May - can the plant all be labelled as to what they are as those manning the stall are not necessarily plant people - Thank you in advance and will try and bring some along myself!

I have started planting up seeds in the polytunnel and hope to get to the May Paws for Tea. Tongwynlais sounds like the sort of place I could get horribly lost trying to find!

good point Audrey ........ it was a last minute decision on sending plants , next time I will be more organised ( embarrassed face )

the plants I sent up to  today's event were tomato plants , foxgloves , sedums , purple leafed hardy geraniums , mini hardy chrysanthemum white flowering ( small fernee looking leaf plants) and a couple of prickly teasels
hope this helps if anyone brought one

I have more plants to come but not ready yet as it's been so cold .... looking forward to doing more planting 4 paws
will try to come and help man the stall next time ( smiley face )

julie xx

I'm hopeless at gardening but my mam loves her garden & has an allotment so I'll ask her to donate any extras for next show :-)

Tim bought a yukka yesterday & has promised to try not to kill it lol xx

Just giving this a little BUMP
Would be lovely to see a table overflowing with plants of both the flowering and vegetable variety at our Paws4Tea  in Tongwynlais.
Remember you can buy plug plants in Aldi and Lidl and possibly other supermarkets and of course your local garden  centre to grow on for us.
Or how about seeing if the Garden Centre can donate some to us!
Green fingers or no pass it on plants are the BIG thing for May!!

Ali / Audrey

not sure if the plants I am trying to grow on for you will be ready for this due to the awful cold weather we have had recently

not being a commercial grower ( just my little green house and me ) everything is about a month or more behind .......... will do my best but can't guarantee as we are at the mercy of gods ( sad face )
